Prior to beginning a graduate degree at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, Kate Murray was a Manager of Entrepreneur Selection & Growth at Endeavor, Detroit, a global nonprofit that supports high-impact entrepreneurs in emerging markets worldwide. Kate enjoys working in the world of economic development, but her one true love will always be the fascinating relationship between the United States and China.
Kate learned her first Chinese words at age ten from a “Big Bird in China” song. Since then, she spent ten years studying Mandarin in the classroom and one semester living in Beijing during her junior year of college. She dug further into U.S.-China relations during her senior year, researching and writing a thesis titled Bashful or Brash: An Examination of the Chinese Response to the Pivot.
Today, Kate tries to keep up with her Mandarin as much as possible, and to use her understanding of Chinese language, culture, and politics to help the entrepreneurs that she works with.
Kate is a proud Boston College Eagle with a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Chinese.

“I can't recommend it highly enough, it was fabulous!”
Fr Frank Brennan, SJ AO
"My husband Gary and I travelled to China with Sino-Immersions in August 2024. We were a group of six with Jeremy as our fabulous guide. Jeremy’s knowledge of Chinese history and culture, his fluency in Mandarin and his affable manner ensured that every day of our nine day trip was memorable." Planning Your China Adventure
Our exciting tours work in two ways, depending on what you want and how much time you have.
FIRST OPTION:
We devise an absolutely superb itinerary which includes choices from among the best experiences in some of China's most amazing cities. These are based on our 40 years of traveling to China, and our more than 20 years experience guiding Australian and US groups throughout China.
These include famous and spectacular locations with choices from among tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 cities like Guangzhou, Guilin, Yangshuo, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dunhuang, Qufu, Pingyao, Beijing, Harbin, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. We also recommend starting or finishing in Hong Kong and Macau.
As an example, our proposed summer trip (September 13th to September 26th 2026) includes both scenic wonders and sites of beauty around rivers and mountains, pandas and terracotta warriors. We enjoy food tours and wandering down back alleys, visiting famous museums, stylish architecture and out of the way locales.
Our proposed winter trip (January 4th to January 17th, 2027) also includes sites that can be busy in summer but quiet in winter, and all the more beautiful because of it. The Winter Trip celebrates the famous Ice Festival of Harbin.
SECOND OPTION:
We work with you to craft an itinerary that matches your wants and desires. Perhaps you have been to Beijing or Shanghai, but would love to stand on the edge of the Gobi desert or drift down the ancient Grand Canal in Hangzhou. Our Director, Jeremy Clarke, works with you to plan your own China adventure.
These trips are exclusive, fully accompanied, expertly curated small group tours for around $10,500 per person (twin or double) with a single supplement of $750.
Our price is almost all inclusive (excellent hotels in central locations, almost all meals with nothing pre-ordered, transfers from trains, planes and automobiles, internal travel on highspeed trains and planes, expert guiding throughout the journey, tickets to museums, sites and events, gratuities, pre-departure advice etc etc).
Join a group via our first method, or make your own group - 4 people minimum, 10 people maximum - and make use of our knowledge to devise your own expertly led tour.
Our clients love our boutique small-group trips, as our reviews here show!
